Verify authors and dates
Preserve the source's author order and distinguish people from organizations. Do not guess middle names or initials that are not shown.
Check whether the source requires a year only or a full publication date. Do not invent a date for undated material; review the appropriate no-date convention.

Review titles and source details
Article titles and journal names follow different capitalization and italic rules. After pasting into your document, make sure rich-text formatting survived.
Compare volume, issue, and page range with the source. Do not confuse a webpage title with a site name, and remember edition and publisher information for books.
Normalize DOI and check the complete list
Prefer a DOI when one exists and confirm whether the current `https://doi.org/` format is required. Remove unnecessary tracking parameters from ordinary URLs.
Sort the list as required and apply the correct hanging indent. Then check both directions: every cited source is listed and every listed source is actually cited.
